Dear Mayor Mayo and Mr. Mitchell:
You have each requested an Attorney General's opinion regarding holiday pay for firefighters. Your opinion requests are based upon a Compliance Audit the Legislative Auditor released on October 17, 2007 regarding the City of Monroe's fire department. The Legislative Auditor questions the legality of the "Holiday Pay" provisions contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the City and the International Association of Firefighters.
