Judgment unanimously modified on the law and as modified affirmed in accordance with the following Memorandum: The trial court erroneously and without the benefit of a Ventimiglia hearing (see, People v Ventimiglia, 52 NY2d 350) allowed defendant’s former girlfriend to testify to defendant’s acts of violence against her and her *696child, as well as his other bad acts, as part of the People’s direct case.
