Defendant, Louis H. Brown, Jr., was charged by indictment in the circuit court of St. Clair County with unlawful use of weapons in that he knowingly possessed a grenade which contained an explosive substance. Before trial, defendant filed a motion to suppress statements made during two interrogations held on August 19, 1986, contending that the law enforcement agents ignored his request for attorney assistance.
