By an act of the general assembly,.passed in 1846, the trustees of the Vincennes University were authorized to file a bill in chancery, in the nature of an action of disseizin, for the purpose of trying their right to the township of land, in Gibson county, called the seminary township. A bill was accordingly filed in the Marion Circuit Court, claiming that said trustees were entitled to the use of said lands, of which they had been wrongfully dispossessed by the state.
