The defendant, Winston Echols, was found guilty by a jury of kidnapping in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-92 (a) (2) (A)1 and of sexual assault in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-70 (a).2 He received a total effective sentence of twenty years.
