Defendant in error, Mary E. Callahan, (hereinafter referred to as relator,) filed in the circuit court of Cook county a petition for writ of mandamus against the president of the board of county commissioners of Cook county, the county comptroller, county treasurer and members of the board of county commissioners, seeking to compel payment to her of certain items of salary which she claims due by reason of her position as adult probation officer in that county.
