This action is for the recovery of certain personal property, alleged to have been wrongfully taken and retained by the defendant from the possession of the plaintiff. The complaint is in the usual form. The answer admits the taking and detention of the property described in the complaint, and avers that the defendant, being then the sheriff of Eau Claire county, on the 8th of January, 1869, seized the same by virtue of an execution issued out of the circuit court for that county, upon a certain judgment recovered therein by Henry and Van Buskirk against one George Lang, and that such…
