*288This action was commenced in 1985 to recover damages for injuries sustained by plaintiff Marie C. Zellar1 (hereinafter Zellar) while she was a patient undergoing treatment for cancer at defendant hospital. The complaint alleges that on June 3, 1985, Zellar fell from her bed in an attempt to walk to the bathroom, resulting in fractures to her left arm in two places and dislocation of her shoulder.
