After affirmance by the Appellate Division of the Superior Court, we certified for appeal a judgment of conviction entered on a jury verdict against appellants Carbone and Eranze upon the trial of an indictment charging that on June 26, 1950, "and continuing to and including July 22, 1950,” at the City of East Orange, New Jersey, Carbone and Eranze and "John Doe,” whose true name was unknown, conspired to transgress the laws of the State denouncing bookmaking on horse races.
