MEMORANDUM OPINION DECEMBER 5, 2023 Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11 provide a vehicle for deterring abuses of the legal system: imposing sanctions. But sanctions are serious business. Receiving sanctions signals a severe lack of professionalism and inflicts lasting damage to a lawyer’s credibility. So while moving for sanctions is a necessary tool to prevent injustice, such motions are not to be used as a “hardball”…
