John D. Bernero was a member of the fire department of the city of Chicago from March 1, 1907, to April 24, 1928, on which latter date he retired on a pension. He was married to Mabel Bernero (the petitioner in this proceeding, who will hereafter be referred to as plaintiff) on May 15, 1912, and procured a divorce from her on June 30, 1927, on substituted service. He subsequently married one Ada Steiner Foss, who died in December, 1932. Bernero died in May, 1933. On February 7, 1934, plaintiff procured a decree setting aside the…
