The United States is conducting an investigation into whether Aurora Health Care, Inc. (“Aurora”) knowingly submitted false claims for reimbursement to federal healthcare programs. As part of its investigation, and pursuant to 31 U.S.C. § 3733, the United States served a civil investigative demand (which, for simplicity, I will refer to as a subpoena) on Aurora, which required Aurora to produce certain documents that the United States deemed relevant to its investigation.
