The plaintiffs, Paula Carnelli and Henry J. DuLaurence, III, appeal from a judgment that dismissed their complaint under Mass. R. Civ. P. 12 (b) (6), 365 Mass. 754 (1974) ( rule 12 [b] [6] ), claiming that the motion judge erred in dismissing their claims for violations of G. L. c. 93A (c. 93A), defamation, harassment, and retaliation under G. L. c. 186, § 18, and in declining to conduct a hearing and make a ruling on the plaintiffs' motions for sanctions.
