The defendant, David Lee Williams, was convicted of aggravated battery (720 ILCS 5/12 — 4(a) (West 2000)) and the trial court sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment. Defendant appeals, contending (1) he was not proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt; (2) the trial court erred in admitting expert testimony regarding the “cycle of domestic violence”; and (3) his right to be present at critical stages of the criminal proceeding was violated as a result of his arraignment by closed-circuit television. We reverse and remand.
