This article 5 of the Family Court paternity proceeding was commenced by the Suffolk County Department of Social Services on behalf of one Deborah Thompson against respondent Harden Dinkins, Jr.

The trial was commenced and concluded on June 2,1981. At the outset, the respondent orally raised two defenses, to wit: that the petition should be dismissed because of the petitioner’s laches and that such dismissal was in the best interest of the child.
