This is a suit for damages for personal injuries. Plaintiff worked for defendant as a laborer and chipper at its manufacturing plant in the city of St. Louis. At this plant the defendant had as a part of its equipment several large power driven emery wheels. Grinding steel tools on the emery wheels wore them smooth, making it necessary that they be roughened up from time to time. One of the duties of plaintiff in the course of his employment was to roughen up these emery wheels.
