Lisa T. (mother) and her ex-husband K.T. (father) have one child in common. Sadly, for nearly all of the child’s young life, the parties have been embroiled in a multitude of bitter legal disputes: first in New Jersey, and now in New York. In fact, in New York alone, the parties have filed 24 family offense, custody, and violation petitions since December 2012. Because proven acts of domestic violence must be factored into any custody or visitation determination (Domestic Relations Law § 240 [1]), the court has bifurcated the proceedings to try the family…
