We decide today whether the Court of Appeals was compelled to remand this case to the trial court to allow the defendant to file a motion for resentencing. The defendant first alleged a sentencing guidelines scoring error before the Court of Appeals by filing a motion to remand pursuant to MCR 7.211(C)(1)(a).1 We hold *3that the Court of Appeals is not compelled to grant every motion to remand.
