Dear Ms. Pumphrey:

This is in response to your request for an opinion on four questions regarding parole and probation supervision. Your questions will be restated and addressed in the order posed.

Your first question is:(1) Is it legal for a parole or probation officer to request a probationer/parolee under his/her supervision to take an AIDS test? If so, under what circumstances and by what authority?
