COOPER, Justice.
Appellant’s mother, Cora Belle Kirk, was stabbed to death in her home in Boyd County, Kentucky, on September 7, 1978. Appellant was indicted for her murder on the following day. The trial judge found Appellant to be incompetent to stand trial and dismissed the indictment. Appellant was reindicted on April 17, 1997. Following a trial by jury in the Boyd Circuit Court, he was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. He appeals to this Court as a matter of right, Ky.
