Roderick Dirden appeals his convictions on charges of aiding and abetting in the possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (cocaine base) with intent to distribute, 18 U.S.C. § 2; 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1), and carrying and use of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime, 18 U.S.C. §§ 2, 924(e). He raises essentially four issues on appeal: first, that he has been denied the right to a speedy trial, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 3161(c)(1) and the Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution; second, that the district court erred in…
