MARCUS, Judge.
This is an expropriation suit arising under the provisions of the “quick taking” statute, LSA-R.S. 48:441-460. The defendants owned a tract of land fronting on the east bank of the Mississippi River just south of the Town of St. Gabriel in Iber-ville Parish. The Department of Highways crossed the defendants' property in constructing Louisiana Highway 30, a two-lane highway running generally north and south.
