WEBB, Justice.

By his first assignment of error the defendant contends that the trial court erred in refusing to grant his motion to suppress his confession made by him on the day of his arrest. The defendant advances three different arguments as to why his confession should have been suppressed. He says first, pursuant to Edwards v. Arizona, 451 U.S. 477, 68 L.Ed. 2d 378, reh. denied, 452 U.S. 973, 69 L.Ed. 2d 986 (1981), his in-custody statement should have been suppressed due to a failure to stop interrogating him when he invoked his right to counsel.
