Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Broome County (Mathews, J.), rendered October 3, 1988, upon a verdict convicting defendant of the crime of robbery in the first degree.

On December 18, 1987, Andrew Allen was hitchhiking some 110 miles to his home after work on a job site as a plumber. While on State Route 17 in the Town of Kirkwood, Broome County, a car containing defendant and Vern Hall stopped for *313Allen.
