OPINION

Defendant, Michael Cardamone, was convicted of harassment of a witness in violation of section 32 — 4a of the Criminal Code of 1961 (720 ILCS 5/32 — 4a (West 2004)). The appellate court affirmed defendant’s conviction (379 Ill. App. 3d 656), and defendant appealed to this court.
