Defendant, Douglas Coleman, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1991, ch. 38, par. 9 — l(a)(2) (now 720 ILCS 5/9 — 1(a)(2) (West 1992))) and three counts of armed robbery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1991, ch. 38, par. 18 — 2(a) (now 720 ILCS 5/18 — 2(a) (West 1992))). The court sentenced defendant to an extended term of 85 years’ imprisonment on the murder conviction and to extended terms of 50 years’ imprisonment on the armed robbery convictions.
