The Cook County sheriff (the Sheriff) 1 petitioned to dismiss Andrew Remus from his employment with the police department due to alleged misconduct that occurred on June 2, 1999. The Cook County Sheriffs Merit Board granted the petition. Remus contends on appeal that the evidence does not support the Board’s findings that alcohol impaired his mental ability on the night in question and that he violated departmental reporting rules.
