1Opinion of the Court
I. The County Court of McDowell County was abolished on the 15th day of July, 1868, and its powers and duties were thereupon devolved upon the County Commissioners.
II. That a portion of the paper writings, (which are herein for convenience, styled bonus,) were signed by J. S. Brown, who was the last Chairman of the County Court, before its abolition, in vacation and without any order to that effect from the County Court, to the amount of $12,500, and the remainder, to wit: to the amount of $37,500, were signed by him after the abolition of the County Court; and all of them, amounting to…
