Dane Johnson appeals the denial of his Motion to Set Aside Default Judgment by the Circuit Court of Cole County. We reverse and remand.

Dane Johnson (“Johnson”) is incarcerated by the Missouri Department of Corrections. On March 27, 2009, the State filed a petition in Cole County seeking a judgment against Johnson, pursuant to the Missouri Incarceration Reimbursement Act (“MIRA”), sections 217.825-217.841,1 to reimburse the State for the costs of Johnson’s incarceration.
