MEMORANDUM OPINION AND ORDER

WILLIAM T. HART, District Judge.

By agreement of the parties, this, case was tried by a magistrate, who entered judgment in plaintiff’s favor (though not for the full amount requested) on January 13, 1986. That same day the magistrate entered another order recommending defendant be found in contempt under Fed.R. Civ.P. 45(f) for failure to comply with a trial subpoena duces tecum. Since magistrates have no power to punish for contempt (see 28 U.S.C. § 636(e); Geras v. Lafayette Display Fixtures, Inc., 742 F.2d 1037, 1044 (7th Cir.1984)) the contempt recommendation…
