Appellant Joseph Rounsaville was found guilty of rape and sentenced as a habitual offender to a term of life imprisonment on September 24, 2007. On October 11, 2007, Appellant filed a pro se motion for appointment of counsel for posttrial proceedings and for representation at a new trial, as well as a pro se motion for new trial based upon his claims of ineffectiveness of his current counsel. The Pulaski County Circuit Court denied these motions on October 31, 2007. That same day Appellant’s counsel, Richard L.
