FLAUM, Circuit Judge.
A jury convicted Willie Newman of armed robbery of a bank in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2113(a) & (d). This was Newman’s third violent felony conviction—his “third strike” under 18 U.S.C. § 3559(c)(1)—and the district court therefore imposed the mandatory sentence of life imprisonment.
