THORNBERRY, Circuit Judge:
These appeals arise from a sharply-contested employment discrimination case which involves over 3,000 black steelworkers. The proceedings below culminated in a decree, entered May 2, 1973, in which District Judge Pointer ordered major changes in the seniority structures at the nine plants of defendant United States Steel Corporation’s Fairfield Works, Birmingham, Alabama.
