Date: April 1, 2026 We’re retiring a few legacy fields, parameters, and one endpoint from the Exa API. If your integration uses any of the items below, please update before May 1, 2026.

What’s Changing

/research endpoint
Sunsetting on May 1. Migrate to /search with type: “deep-reasoning”. See here for an example. resolvedSearchType (response field)
Will return null on April 15, removed on May 1. If you parse this field, stop reading it before the sunset date. highlightScores (response field)
Will return null on April 15, removed on May 1. Highlights themselves are unaffected. startCrawlDate / endCrawlDate (request parameters)
On April 15, these will be silently ignored (requests will succeed, but the filter will have no effect).

Timeline

  1. April 1 — This notice
  2. April 15 — Deprecated features return null / are ignored
  3. May 1 — Hard removal. Removed features will stop working.
