He has guided AndrenaM to establish the central nervous system for maritime autonomy, secured partnerships with defense agencies and venture investors, achieved product market fit, and led the engineering team to deliver prototype deployments in under one year—key milestones for the company’s growth.
Matej holds both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He launched his career as a Launch Engineer on Starship at SpaceX, before moving to Sierra Space, where he led projects in rocket propulsion systems. His blend of advanced engineering experience and entrepreneurial drive laid the foundation for his pivotal role at AndrenaM.
Alex Chu is the CTO and Co-Founder, architecting AndrenaM’s technology, system strategy, and research & development. He spearheads the advancement of distributed sensing networks and AI-driven maritime autonomy algorithms, leading the development of autonomous buoy prototypes and cutting-edge sensor fusion systems.
Alex holds an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and a B.S. in Computer Science. Before joining AndrenaM, he served as Senior Manager of Corporate Strategy at Micron Technology and as a strategy consultant at West Monroe Partners. His expertise spans product development, embedded systems, and business strategy, providing technical and commercial vision to the company.
James Supancic, III, Ph.D. leads AndrenaM’s perception engineering and AI/ML portfolios, building the algorithms underpinning computer vision and sensor fusion for autonomous maritime systems. Dr. Supancic has developed patented techniques for 3D tracking and neural network-based flow optimization, crucial for AndrenaM’s platform autonomy and reliability.
Dr. Supancic holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UC Irvine. He has previously held key R&D roles at Snap Inc. (Machine Learning Engineer), Blizzard Entertainment (Senior Data Scientist), and Anduril Industries (Computer Vision Engineer), amassing extensive expertise in advanced perception for real-world and defense technology applications.
Kyle Roman designs and implements AndrenaM’s power electronics and hardware, leading the electrical integration and reliability efforts for the company’s buoy platforms. He was instrumental in achieving the first field deployment’s hardware certification, ensuring mission-critical reliability under harsh maritime conditions.
Kyle graduated with a B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He has previous experience as Staff Electrical Engineer at Saronic Technologies and as Senior Electrical Design Engineer at Flex, where he specialized in the design and deployment of electronics for demanding defense and aerospace environments.
